Healthy Smiles Made Affordable
It’s important to keep your teeth clean every day so you can keep a healthy smile. Visiting your dentist for regular check-ups and cleanings are important to schedule to help prevent tooth decay, tooth loss and gum disease.
Why A Checkup Matters
The Checkup
During the checkup, your dental hygienist will check your teeth, gums, and mouth for overall oral health.
The Cleaning
There’s nothing better than a freshly cleaned set of teeth. During the cleaning portion of your appointment, your dental professional will give your teeth a deep clean.
This typically means removing any plaque and tartar buildup along with a polish of your teeth.Â
Post-Checkup
Be sure to take care of your teeth and gums between visits to your dentist. Plaque continues to form on your teeth throughout the day, but you can manage that buildup with regular brushing and flossing. Here are a few tips:
- Brush your teeth at least twice a day. Be sure to use a toothpaste that contains fluoride.
- Floss daily.
- Use a mouthwash to help control plaque bacteria. This will also help to keep your breath fresh.
- Don’t brush aggressively – imagine you are lightly polishing an apple and don’t want to bruise it. That’s about the amount of force required to properly scrub your teeth.
