Remove and rinse dentures
Run water over your dentures to remove any food debris or particles. To avoid dropping and damaging them, stand over a folded towel or a full sink of water when handling dentures.
Wash mouth after removing dentures
Brush your gums, tongue and natural teeth with fluoride toothpaste before reinserting your dentures. This will help remove plague from your teeth, stimulate circulation in your mouth and help maintain good oral health.
Scrub dentures daily
Like natural teeth, dentures have to be brushed daily to remove food and plague, while also preventing the development of permanent stains on the dentures. Gently scrub your dentures using denture cleaner, soap or dishwashing liquid and a soft toothbrush or denture brush to remove plague, food and other particles. Rinse dentures again before putting them back in your mouth, especially if you have used a denture soaking solution. These solutions often contain harmful chemicals that should not be ingested. Ingestion of chemicals can cause vomiting, pain or a burning sensation in the throat.
